Black Is A Team Sport
Black Is A Team Sport (BIATS) is a nonprofit organization built on one core belief: the only sustainable path forward for Black people is together.
BIATS exists to unite Black people globally around a shared culture of cooperation, accountability, mutual support, collective investment, and problem-solving.
We may come from different countries, religions, cultures, and backgrounds, but being Black is our common ground. Before nationality, religion, politics, and other labels, we were Black.
Our differences don't have to disappear. They simply don't have to divide the team.
HOW IT STARTED
Black Is A Team Sport began as the underlying philosophy behind AFR-LETICS, an athletics and culture brand co-founded by Pike Harris.
But the idea became bigger than clothing.
Rather than simply putting the message on apparel and hoping it inspired someone else to act, we decided to put the philosophy into practice ourselves.
BIATS grew from that decision—a movement created to turn everything Black Is A Team Sport was meant to represent into action.
The clothing carried the message. BIATS puts the message into action.
FROM ME TO WE
At the heart of BIATS is a simple shift:
From an individual mentality to a team mentality.
Your problem may be someone else's solution.
One member's challenge may already have an answer within the team through another member's knowledge, skills, resources, connections, business, or opportunities.
The solution may already exist among us. The missing piece is connection and organization.
Your problem becomes our problem.
Your knowledge can become our solution.
Your opportunity becomes our opportunity.
Your success strengthens the team.
The strength of the team strengthens you.
We don't all have to have everything. We have to have each other.
WHAT WE STAND FOR
BIATS turns Black Is A Team Sport from a slogan into a way of operating.
We bring together our people, knowledge, skills, businesses, networks, purchasing power, resources, and capital to:
- Solve problems together
- Support Black-owned businesses
- Share knowledge and resources
- Create opportunities for one another
- Educate and empower our members
- Invest and build collectively
- Strengthen our economic power
- Build lasting systems that benefit the team
The principle is simple:
Stop facing collective problems individually. Start solving them together.
MEMBERSHIP MEANS COMMITMENT
Being Black makes you eligible for the team. Membership makes you accountable to it.
BIATS membership is a voluntary commitment to participate, contribute, support other members, uphold shared standards, and accept responsibility to something larger than yourself.
Regardless of nationality, religion, gender, or location, if you are Black and willing to make that commitment, there is a place for you on the team.
OUR MISSION
To build a unified global Black culture where cooperation becomes normal, problems are solved collectively, opportunities are shared, and our resources are intentionally used to strengthen one another.
We believe our future depends on changing the question from:
“What can I do for me?”
to:
“WHAT CAN WE DO FOR EACH OTHER?”
One shared identity. One culture of commitment. One team.
